A private school bordering two boroughs has seen an increase in the number of pupils receiving top grades for the second consecutive year.

The majority of pupils at Forest School sixth form in Walthamstow have been offered places at top universities after a record 82 per cent of students received A star to B results.

Results were released at 9am with students receiving their grades during one-to-one tutorials.

Connor Coombs, 18, of South Woodford, got three top grade A levels and has accepted a place studying dentistry at Kings College London.

"I wasn't too happy with my chemistry result (B) but what's next is far more exciting.

"Dentistry is really hard to get into but once qualified, is a job for life.

"I found the six interviews at Kings and twelve interviews at Bristol far more stressful than the actual A levels themself," said Connor.

One of the school's top performers Chris Matson, 18, also of South Woodford, recevied four A stars and one A in history.

His main motivation for succeeding was being offered a place to study at Cambridge, which he has now accepted.

He said: "I feel absolutely ecstatic and really pleased with my grades. After two years of full-on studying, it definately feels worth it."

A third of the year 13 group achieved more than three A star or A grades and 75 per cent of pupils have been accepted onto their first choice.
