An afterschool club received a ‘good’ score in its first Ofsted inspection this week.
Inspectors praised staff at Sherpa Kids, which provides the service for children at Avanti Court Primary School in Carlton Drive, Barkingside.
The club, which is described by the school as extended teaching, is led by volunteer teachers and operates in term time from Monday to Friday, 3.10pm until 5.30pm.
The report said: “The quality of teaching is good as staff engage in interesting and exciting activities with children to promote their development in all areas of learning.
“Staff encourage children to extend their activities and praise their achievements, thus promoting their willingness to learn.
“For example, as children successfully complete a jigsaw puzzle, staff give praise and encourage them to try a more difficult puzzle."
