The number of pupils achieving A to C grades at A-level has fallen in Redbridge, figures show.

About 75 per cent of students reached the standard, down from 78 per cent in 2013.

But the average performance of pupils has increased.

The point score used by universities and colleges of higher education rose from 758.2 last year to 818.3 per cent.

The council said the fall in A to C pass rates was due to changes to the A-level system, which removed ongoing assessments and re-sits throughout the academic year.

Councillor Elaine Norman, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "Students, parents and teachers should feel hugely proud of themselves.

“These results are further evidence of Redbridge’s enduring educational excellence.”

The council has been approached for further comment.
