Additional bins will be provided in a bid to encourage "disrespectful" dog owners to clear up after their dogs in a cemetery following the discovery of waste left on memorials.
Ongar Town Council staff dound excrement left on and around graves and paths in Ongar Cemetery.
Despite notices erected on the gates, councillors have expressed concern over the "lack of respect".
Council vice-chairman Brian Surtees said: “The council is concerned that this poses a health hazard to both staff and visitors.
“The council will be providing additional dog waste bins for this area and we would hope that dog owners will use the proper facilities to dispose of the waste.”
