Students expecting to find out the results of their hard work over the last two years have been told this morning that they will have to wait after an ‘administrative error’ by a GCSE exam board.

Pupils at Heathcote School in Chingford do not yet know their results for English, Science, French, German, Spanish and Psychology.

A letter on the school’s website told parents today that the exam board has promised a speedy resolution.

It said: “We regret to inform you that all our AQA GCSE results have been delayed due to an administrative error by the exam board.

“Students are still able to collect their results from the Edexcel and WJEC exam boards."

“They will also be given a letter to explain the reason for the delay in providing a complete set of results that they can then show to their preferred Post 16 provider or their prospective employer."

Parent Lyn Farenden said that she is ‘outraged’ by the mistake as her daughter’s place at her chosen sixth form hangs in the balance.

As the family moved to Brentwood recently her daughter Masie 16 is hoping to get a place in a school in Essex.

However, if they do not receive her results by 4.30pm today they may give her place away.

Mrs Farenden said: “We were told as we were outside the school, we got a text.

“It is a disgrace. Masie was beside herself because they have been killing themselves with revision since Christmas and on the day they are told that they can’t have the results.

“Because of the entrance system in Brentwood they need her results today – there are hundreds of kids and only a few places. She could lose her place because of this.

“How can this happen at one school?”

Children from Heathcote have also taken to Twitter to vent their frustration with students posting about the school ‘messing up’ their results day.

However, students must wait until tomorrow to be informed of their grades when they can collect a print out from 10am.

Enrolment for the school’s sixth form has been delayed until August 22 and 28 from 10am.
