A primary and infant school inspected prior to the summer holidays has lost its 'outstanding' status.
Henry Maynard Primary School in Maynard Road and Addison Road in Walthamstow has been rated as 'good' by education watchdog Ofsted following a report published on Tuesday.
The infant school which caters for over 900 pupils aged three to eleven and was lasted inspected in 2008, missed out on the highest rating because teachers do not adapt activities quickly enough to fast or slow progress.
Four inspectors also found assistants are not always supporting pupils learning effectively and teachers do not consistently ensure pupils are responsive to mark comments.
They visited the school over two days on July 2 and 3 and observed 27 lessons taught by 26 teachers.
Staffs were praised for bringing pupils up to standard as the majority of children enter Maynard with below average skills and knowledge for their age, but by the end of Year 6, their standards in English and mathematics are above national averages.
Overall, the school is successful is closing the social and educational gap for pupils who currently qualify for additional funding.
Headteacher Linda Adair has been approached for a comment.
