Police have said a sec tion of High Street, Epping, will remain closed overnight to vehicles and pedestrians after a man was stabbed in the chest in the early hours of this morning.

Officers are continuing a forensic examination of the scene after the man, described as a 31-year-old from London, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Police were called to the incident shortly after 4.25am following reports the man had been found collapsed.

Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and the man was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he was given surgery.
