A clock-enthusiast is selling his extensive collection for charity this weekend.

Wanstead and Snaresbrook Rotary Club member, David Etherton, will be selling his collection of more than 80 clocks, with prices ranging from £1 to £75, at the Wanstead Festival on Christchurch Green, in High Street, on Saturday.

The 82-year-old, of Nightingale Lane in Wanstead, is hoping to raise £500 for Aspray House Care Home in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, and Lewy Body Dementia Society - the rotary club's chosen charities.

His collection includes an Elvis Presley clock, one that doubles as a mirror and many train-themed clocks, one of which cost £80 in USA.

His bungalow is decorated with clocks, with his bathroom and bed pillows featuring Big Ben-themed art.

The retired business valuer said: “I have clocks everywhere and I need to get rid of some of them.

"If you phone me on the hour you won't be able to hear me with all the chimes.

“When I go abroad I have a habit of going to markets and picking up any clocks I find. I just have to have them.

“I hardly ever pay more than a fiver for them. The challenge of finding a bargain is part of the enjoyment of collecting them.

"The first and largest of the clocks I bought is 1m in diameter. I bought it in Normandy in a bric-a-brac shop and I just had to have it.

"Getting it in the car was challenging, but before I knew it, there it was, in magnificent splendour in the living room.

“I am sad to be letting go of so many but I am sure they will fetch a good price for charity."
