Police continue to appeal for information after a mother was fatally stabbed in her Walthamstow home.

Police were called at 3.05 pm on  September 1 to reports of a woman stabbed in Hatherley Road.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a Leighann Duffy suffering from stab wounds to her arm and neck.

A six-year-old child at the address received treatment at the scene for a minor injury but did not attend hospital.

The 26-year-old mother was taken to hospital, where she subsequently died on September 3.

A post-mortem examination took place at Walthamstow Mortuary on  September 4 and gave cause of death as a stab wound.

No arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Glen Lloyd of the Homicide and Major Crime Command leads the investigation.

He said: "While we continue to investigate the motive to this incident we believe that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.

"People living and working nearby may have seen something that could be of vital importance to investigators. I would urge anyone with information to contact officers."
