Tributes have been left outside the block of flats where a mother was fatally stabbed in front of her young daughter.

Leighann Duffy, 26, died in hospital two days after being knifed in the neck and arm on September 1 at her flat in Hatherley Road, Walthamstow.

The murderer remains at large.

Loved ones and neighbours have paid their respects to Miss Duffy by laying flowers, cards and candles at the stairwell entrance to Hatherley House.

Dozens of notes said "rest in peace darling" and described her death as a "sad' and 'tragic loss".

A message from Maria, Lauryn and Lorenzo read: "Darling Leighann, we will miss your smile and all the funny things. Gone too soon. We never will forget you. Thinking of you Little Faith"

Other messages also referred to Ms Duffy by the name Faith.

Her six-year-old daughter was inside the flat with her mother and required treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

Many left messages of condolences for the child and her grieving family.

In two sympathy cards left by Hatherley House residents, they said: "With deepest sympathy. My heart goes out to your family. Gladys."

"From all of number 10, we all feel very sorry for the loss, she will be missed very much. May she rest in peace. God bless her little one and family."

Jan Azim wrote: "I am very sorry for the loss. May her soul rest in peace. Lots of love for faith."

A separate sympathy note attached to a teddy and flowers read: "Leighann, fear not for the lord is close to the broken hearted. Rest in peace. See you when we reach [heaven]. Tasha, Jerome, Riah and Eden."
