Two teenagers were stabbed outside a pub in Highams Park after a suspected car chase, according to a witness.

The men, believed to be aged 18 and 19, were said to have been attacked outside the Royal Oak pub in Hale End Road, Highams Park, on Monday night.

Police are yet to reveal further details of the incident, which is being investigated by Trident Gang Command.

Paramedics, including a medical team from London's Air Ambulance (LAA) were called to the scene opposite a row of shops in Oak Hill at 10.30pm after reports of an assault.

Conscience and breathing, both teenagers were treated for a stab wound and taken to an east London hospital as a priority.

A Hale End Road resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said she witnessed a man grab a knife from the boot of his car before chasing after the victims.

The 39-year-old said: "Both cars were driving next to each other up Hale End Road like it was a race.

"They crashed into each other and into a parked car which shot into my neighbour's front garden.

"Both drivers then got out of the car and started throwing stuff at each other - like stones.

"There were other people sitting inside both cars.

"Two white men then ran off towards the pub. A black man then walked to his boot, opened it and pulled out a knife.

"He then chased them to outside the Royal Oak.

"It was awful, absolutely the most frightening thing to watch with my children and hear that screeching.

"I couldn't believe it."

Hale End Road at the junction with Oak Hill and Forest Mount Road was cordoned off by police until the early hours of yesterday.
