There is concern for the safety of a woman who was seen being bundled into a car.

A passer-by told police the driver of the car was arguing with a group of young men in Winters Way, Waltham Abbey, on Friday at about 10pm.

The witness said the woman got out of the car during the row and the male driver also got out, before pushing her to the ground and then back into the car.

Police say they have been looking for the small silver car and the woman in the area, but have not found anything.

The woman is described as white with blonde hair, wearing a red top. The man is also described as white, in his 40s, bald and wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

Detective Inspector Mark Barber said: "I am appealing for the woman involved to contact us to confirm she is OK.

"This may have been a domestic dispute between the two but I want to hear from her."

Police are also appealing for the group of young men who witnessed the attack to get in contact.

Anyone with any information can call Essex Police on 101 and quote incident number 1154 of September 12.
