A gang of robbers who raided a bookmakers are believed to have used fake firearms, it has been confirmed.

Three masked men stormed a branch of Ladbrokes in KIngs Road, Chingford, on Wednesday at 8.30pm and demanded money from the cashier.

The gang claimed they were carrying guns, but no actual weapons were seen.

Forensics officers worked at the scene in the hours after the incident, while detectives searched the area for any vehicles which may have been connected with the crime.

Residents in nearby Pretoria Road were questioned by police over a silver van, but the owner was found during door-to-door enquiries.

The Flying Squad is investigating the robbery and has not revealed how much cash was taken.
No arrests have been made.
