A popular Chingford pub has been sold to developers for £1.1million.

The Royston Arms in Chingford Mount Road closed to the public earlier this month after it was sold by owners Stonegate Ltd.

Developers Kingsbury purchased the pub and sold it on for £1.1m. The original sale price has not been revealed.

Although there is no permission granted for building on the site – the sale states that it was specifically for the purpose of development.

The half-acre site was sold on June 16 although Stonegate and Kingsbury are refusing to name the new owner.

Stonegate Pubs Ltd recently sold the Heathcote Arms in Grove Green Road, Leytonstone, to an unknown buyer.

Despite being sold weeks ago, the company has been silent over the new ownership although it is still listed as the owner on the Land Registry and advertises the pub as its own online.

Other pubs in the area owned by the company include The Goose in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, The Lord Palmerston in Forest Road, Walthamstow, The George in George Lane, South Woodford, and The Ferry Boat Inn, in Forest Road, Walthamstow.
