A historic house which was used by the Army in World War II held an open day this weekend.
The public took part in floristry, pottery and painting workshops on Saturday afternoon at Wanstead House, in The Green, Wanstead.
Originally built in 1914, the house was bought by Miss Margaret Meakings Johnson in 1920, who entertained notable dignitaries such as Winston Churchill.
Following her death in December 1940, the house was requisitioned by the Army and used as a headquarters.
Since the war ended it has been used as a community centre.
