Three members of the Higgins construction family this week cut the ribbon to unveil new rooms at a disability centre.

Olive Higgins and her two sons Richard and Stephen, visited the Vitalise Jubilee Lodge in Grange Farm Lane, Chigwell, yesterday, to officially open the centre's newly refurbished rooms.

The family, who have supported of the charity for over 20 years, donated a total of £8,500 to enable a makeover of three of the 33 guest rooms in the lodge.

Vitalise is a national charity providing essential breaks for people with disabilities and carers.

Ms Higgins and her sons cut the ribbon to unveil the Derek Higgins Room, in memory of her late husband who died 10-years-ago.

She said: "The rooms are completely lovely, my husband would have been over the moon.

"It made me tear up a little as I know he would have loved it.

"Jubilee Lodge has been close to the Higgins family heart for a great many years and I am very proud of the part my family has played in making the centre what it is today."
