A lorry which struck a bridge has been removed.

Police in Walthamstow cordoned off an area of Wood Street, outside the train station, at around midday when the vehicle became lodged beneath the bridge.

The truck was emblazoned with a CCF logo.

Mark Mason, 50, was on his way to his office in Linford Road when he saw the collision.

He said: “I was pulling around the corner and I just heard this crunch. It looked pretty awful.

“I parked the car nearby.

“I heard the driver saying that he had got under there before, but didn’t make it this time.

"They tried to take a forklift off the back to see if he could get through but that didn’t work.

The lorry was eventually removed, allowing traffic in the area to return to normal.

There is no visible damage to the bridge.
