A golf club member whose wife survived cancer has organised a charity match to raise money to help fight the disease.

The golf match will aim to raise around £5,000 for Cancer Research UK from 1pm on September 27 at Wanstead Golf Club, in Overton Drive, Wanstead.

The golf club will be closed for the afternoon and 104 people have already signed up to take part.

Teresa Cox, 46, of Southview Drive, South Woodford, was diagnosed Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2010.

Husband Gary Cox, 47, said: "She has been clear for three years now, Cancer Research were such a help that we want to raise a bit of money for them.

“We raised £7,000 for a similar event back in 2012 so I am looking forward to it, the club has done us a huge favour by shutting the course, I urge everyone to donate to the charity.”

A charity auction and a raffle will also take place at the event.
