A tribute band company is raising cash to help fund treatment for a three-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer.

The 72 Club, based at Ilford Sports Club & Cricklefields Stadium in Cricklefield Place, Ilford, was formed two years ago to showcase new performers, celebrate decades of music and also help out local charities.

Their fundraising has supported Mayzi Price of Romford since April.

She is currently undergoing treatment at the Footsteps Centre in Oxford, which offers therapy and rehabilitation, but at a cost of £1,500 each time.

The club has already held a number of events for the toddler, including tribute nights earlier this year at local pubs.

Founder of the 72 Club, Terry Austen, 57, of Snaresbrook, said: “Charity work is something my wife and I have always done. It is a natural thing for us to do. It’s the way that we’re wired."

Terry also used to run the Coerver Coaching Football School in East Ham, which raised money for Richard House Children's Hospice.

Events Manager Vicky Sutton, who has worked alongside Terry since April, said they are hosting a music night on September 27 at the Hudson Bay pub, Upton Lane, near her home in Romford - the proceeds of which will go towards Mayzi’s treatment.

Other charities benefitting from the club’s donations include Save the Children and The Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Further events at the 72 Club include a female singers tribute night at Ilford Sports Club, on September 27 to celebrate their second anniversary and a Michael Jackson tribute night in early October.
