The successor to rail union leader Bob Crow has been announced.
Mick Cash, 54, was announced yesterday as the new Rail, Maritime and Transport union leader, succeeding the former resident of Ray Lodge Estate, Woodford Green, who died suddenly in March.
Watford-born Mr Cash was deputy to Bob Crow for 12 years and he beat four rivals in a ballot.
Mr Cash, who has been a member of the RMT and its predecessor the National Union of Railwaymen for 35 years, has been acting general secretary since Mr Crow died on March 11.
He is believed to be more moderate than his rivals for the post, but is regarded as a vastly experienced negotiator.
Bob Crow's funeral took place on March 24 with a procession through Woodford Green and Wanstead being attended by thousands.
