Epping Forest District Council is asking residents to be extra vigilant as the deer rutting season begins.
The mating season, which will start in late September and peak by mid October, often sees an increase in accidents involving deer on forest roads.
Councillors are advising motoists to be extra vigilant where there a deer warning signs and ask dog walkers to keep their pets on a lead to ensure disturbance of the deer is kept to a minimum.
Walkers are also being advised to keep at least 50m away from deer and avoiding feeding or photographing them at close range.
