A golf club member whose wife survived cancer has hailed a charity match to raise money to help fight the disease as a "perfect day".
The golf match was aiming to raise around £5,000 for Cancer Research UK, but in the end raised £7,250, on Saturday at Wanstead Golf Club, in Overton Drive, Wanstead.
A total of 104 people took part as the golf club closed for the afternoon with an auction and raffle also held at an event in the evening.
Teresa Cox, 46, of Southview Drive, South Woodford, was diagnosed Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2010, but was given the all-clear three years ago.
Husband Gary Cox, 47, said: "It was a perfect day and everything went perfectly, the weather was beautiful and we smashed our target.
"I just want to thank Wanstead Golf Club because it is really rare for a golf club to close for an afternoon and I am overwhelmed with their backing."
