A tiny library for little people will open for the first time on Friday.

This week, Waltham Forest’s first children’s only Little Free Library will swing open its small door in Wingfield Road, Walthamstow.

The ‘Just for Kids’ library will be the 15th to be installed in the borough by charitable organisation ‘Little Free Libraries’.

So far, the LFLs for adults have been a success with people borrowing and continuously adding new books to the popular boxes.

Nick Cheshire, LFL Project Director, said: “We’ll be providing lots of fantastic children’s books for the Little Free Library and the local community have lots more to add to.

“Our charity promotes reading for people of all ages, but the artistic designs are particularly engaging to children and young people.

“We thought it was time to launch a LFL just for kids and we wanted Walthamstow to have the first one.”

The Little Free Libraries are built in a workshop in West Sussex and the organisation work with local artists to decorate each LFL.

Walthamstow based artist Emma Scutt designed the Wingfield Road addition.

A launch party will be held on Friday from 6.30pm which has been arranged by local residents who supported the project.

Further ‘Just for Kids’ Little Free Libraries will be installed around the country soon, including Horam Village, West Sussex and the Inn on the Park in St Albans.
