Cakes, coffees and community spirit by the bucket load have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for a cancer charity.

Residents, business owners and even care homes spent last week baking, making and preparing parties for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.

After initially planning a small gathering Chingford Resident Natasha Eaton’s event ‘took off’ at her Hampton Road home with business owners helping to provide raffle prizes.

Prizes were donated from The Craft Cabin, Perfect Nail Bar, The Flower Mill, Shenz, Osiana Florist, Oh My Coffee shop, Aspire Hairdressers, Colour Care Dry Cleaners and Azras Strictly Silver.

Bigger stores including Costa, Iceland and Nisa Local also chipped in.

In total Ms Eaton raised £700.

At George Mason Lodge care home in Leytonstone residents were more than happy to ‘brew up’ for the event.

In just two hours they raised £500.

Staff at George Mason Lodge decided to hold the fundraising coffee morning in aid of Macmillan as team member Stavroulla Achillea is currently receiving treatment for cancer.
