A charity dinner and dance raised £4,000 for a breast cancer clinical trials unit at the weekend.

The event, held at Blakes Golf Club in Epping Road, North Weald, saw over 150 guests entertained by a raffle, live music and an auction in a bid to raise funds for the St Margaret’s Hospital Breast Cancer Clinical Trials Unit.

Auction prizes included a signed shirt by Manchester United Football Club and a Scotland shirt signed by former Tottenham Hotspur player, Dave MacKay and rock singer, Rod Stewart, which was purchased for £400 by Rod Stewart lookalike, Ian Logie of West Hendon in London.

Event Organiser Phil Morton said: “I am delighted with the success of the event which raised so much for the unit.

“A special thanks to all of the shops and restaurants in Loughton and Epping who donated raffle and auction prizes for the event too.”
