A plea date has been set for the fifth man charged with murdering a Leyton man in Dagenham.

Jerome Joseph, 27, of Manor Park Road, Manor Park, appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday and was remanded in custody for a plea hearing on December 22.

Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of 25-year-old Ashley Latty from Leyton, charged Joseph with murder on October 1.

Mr Latty died of multiple stab wounds following an altercation between two groups outside The Beaver Centre in Selinas Lane, Dagenham, on May 18.

He was taken to hospital after officers arrived at the scene at around 5.30am but was pronounced dead a short while later.

He appeared alongside Aimee Penfold, 24, from Croydon, who is accused of assisting an offender and has been bailed to return on December 22.

Four other males charged in connection Mr Latty's death, deny murder.

Kestrel Daniel Dyer, 25, from Barking, Daniel Agyeman, 24, of Thornton Heath, Nicholas Terralonge, 28, of Leytonstone and Nana Oppong, 34 of no fixed abode, all pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey on August 20.

The trial is scheduled to take place at the Old Bailey on February 23.

Three other men aged 22, 26 and 28 were arrested earlier this year and released with no further action.
