Former church members from Chingford are to reunite for the first time in over a decade.

Up to 60 past members of The Ridgeway Evangelical Church in Chingford will travel from across the UK to meet on October 18.

Ever since they met as children of religious parents half a century ago, many of them have stayed in touch, including a member that now lives in sunny California.

Most of the became friends through Sunday School, the youth club, Covenanters and the Young Peoples Fellowship after the Church moved in 1955 to The Ridgeway from the King's Head Hill Gospel Hall, now a hut owned by the Guide Association.

The reunion has been organised by Julian Cripps, a retired senior civil servant in HR Customs and Exercise, and founder of a history touring company where he lives in York.

Members are expected to travel from as far as Ireland, Worcestor, Devon Leicester and Tyne and Wear.

Church Elder in the 1950s, Lionel Rolfe, now aged 94-years-old, will be travelling down from Seaford to give a speech about his time at the church.

It is taking place from 2pm to 7pm.
