A sixth form was addressed on technology and science policy by a billionaire businessman this week.

Dr Mike Lynch, who is the adviser to the Prime Minister on science policy, visited Davenant Sixth Form in Chester Road, Loughton, on Wednesday.

The CEO of Invoke Capital spoke about his experience of setting up a company from scratch and eventually selling it for $11bn.

His speech concentrated on rapid changes in technology.

Assistant head of sixth form, Andrew Midgley, said: "The value of hearing a speaker like Dr Lynch is not only in his evident expertise, creativity, and influence it is also in his emphasis on learning as a lifestyle that continues into and throughout adulthood.”
