A girls’ school has been recognised for its high standard of education and will now share its expertise.

Woodford County High School, in High Road, Woodford Green, was awarded Gold Club status by London Mayor Boris Johnson at a ceremony last week.

Ms Chadlee collected the award on Tuesday last week on behalf of the school.

All students at Woodford County High study a modern foreign language and three sciences, while choosing from a range of subjects in the arts, technology and humanities.

The school has become one of 94 in London which will now share their good practice through seminars and visits.

Headteacher Jo Pomeroy said: "One focus of our collaborative work this year will be the development of computer science and the innovative use of digital technology to support high quality learning across the curriculum.”

Boris Johnson said: "The Gold Club is based on the belief that all schools can aspire to attain excellence for all their pupils, whatever their circumstances.

"London schools are already doing well when compared to the rest of the country, but each of our Gold Club schools is making even greater strides with their pupils.”
