Two primary schools enjoyed exclusive access to two London 2012 legacy venues this week.

Epping Forest Primary School in Coronation Hill, Epping, and Thomas Willingdale School in The Broadway, Loughton, yesterday took part in the first Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre festival.

Pupils had the chance to take part in tennis, cycling and hockey sessions for free across Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre and Lee Valley VeloPark.

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, where wheelchair tennis took place during the Paralympic Games, also saw the seven to nine-year-olds coached in four-a-side hockey and mini tennis.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority Chief Executive Shaun Dawson said: “This inaugural Schools Festival at Lee Valley VeloPark and Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre has been a fantastic success.

“This is a perfect example of London 2012 delivering on its legacy promise to ‘inspire a generation’, with hundreds of children coming to enjoy these iconic venues.

"We hope that the young people participating will be inspired to take up some of the sports we have available at these phenomenal centres.”
