Mystery surrounds why a school has been closed today.

Ray Lodge Primary School, in Snakes Lane East, Woodford Green, states on its website that it will be closed for the day.

The statement said it will update everyone with more information when it becomes available, but there are reports of an emergency with parents being asked to not phone the school to keep lines free.

When contacted by the Guardian, the school refused to comment.
