A group of teenagers selected to attend a global scouting jamboree next year have organised a play to raise funds for the trip.
Fifteen scouts from the County Ducks Explorer Unit at 1st Highams Park Scout Group will present the new drama, 'J.C Meets the Choir' between November 20 and 22 at All Saints Church, in Highams Park.
The comedy, largely written by the group's scout leader Peter Rogers, is a modern take of the story of Jesus.
It is hoped the production will raise about £50,000.
Around 1,000 scouts from the UK are expected to attend the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Kirarahama, Japan, in August next year, with each scout expected to raise £3,000.
Mr Rogers said: "Some of the material the kids have added to the original script is actually quite hysterical and they are working very hard to bring it to life.
"People shouldn’t be put off by it being staged in the church - it will be a good night out for anyone."
Tickets for adults cost £10, including a glass of wine. Childrens tickets are £6, with a free soft drink.
They can be purchased online at www.countyducks.yapsody.com
