Permission has been granted to build a four-bedroom house next to a supermarket.
A proposal by Martin Brown for the home on land next to Sainsbury’s in High Street, Chipping Ongar, was approved by Epping Forest District Council’s planning committee on Wednesday.
The home, which will also include a garage and basement, is to be situated at the rear of the old Barclays bank.
Due to the historic nature of Chipping Ongar, Essex County Architectural services have advised that the site may contain archaeological deposits.
A condition was placed on the application to ensure that proper archaeological monitoring is carried out.
