A community library is set to temporarily close next week in a bid to introduce new technology.
The Chipping Ongar Library in High Street, Ongar, will close on October 28 and 29 whilst Essex County Council Library Services install upgraded self-service machines.
The new technology will allow library users to settle any library fines and pay for DVDs and other charged items at the same time as checking out their loan items.
The machines will also be able to accept payment in both coins and notes and give change.
County Councillor and Cabinet Member for Libraries, Communities and Planning John Jowers said: “We are confident that the new machines will make borrowing items from Essex libraries quicker and more convenient.”
