A disabled man has called for a fallen tree which is partially blocking a path to be removed.

The garden tree fell on Sunday on to the shortcut to Waltham Abbey town centre and is resting about four feet above the ground.

Vernon Gurtner, a wheelchair user, says he is worried for the safety of schoolchildren who regularly use the path and has called for immediate action.

He said: “It makes me feel very vulnerable but this is really the only way I can get into town.

“It is absolutely scandalous that nothing has been done.”

Epping Forest District Council has been approached for comment.
