The inquest date into the death of an autistic man killed on Christmas Eve has been announced.

Rodney Larsh, 20, who lived at a care home in Chingford, went missing from a family home in Barking on Christmas Eve last year, but died hours later after hit by a fast-moving train at Sheffield Station.

It is believed by his family he left his sister's home to try and get back to Chingford as that was his routine every Tuesday.

They raised the alarm immediately due to his vulnerability but a missing person appeal was not released until Christmas Day - a day after his death.

Also, despite the body being recovered that same day, his family were not told until December 27 and appealed effortlessly for his safe return.

The Metropolitan Police admitted earlier this year, there was a delay in informing Mr Larsh's family of the discovery of his body but British Transport Police (BTP) dismissed criticisms by saying the delay was due to complications in formal identification due to his extensive injuries.

The inquest will take place at Chelmsford Coroner's Court on December 10 - exactly two weeks before the first anniversary of his death.
