A drunken motorcyclist who failed to stop for police has been banned from driving for two years.

Stepan Ivanov, of Murchison Road in Leyton, was almost four times over the alcohol limit when police noticed oil leaking from his Honda motorbike in Hainault Road, Leytonstone, on September 20.

He had decided to drive after leaving a party, where he had been drinking wine with friends.

An officer stepped out to stop Ivanov and he eventually pulled over and was breathalysed.

He was arrested and taken to Leyton custody suite, where he refused to be breathalysed again.

The 31-year-old was charged with possession of cannabis, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and failing to stop for police.

He pleaded guilty at Thames Magistrates Court on October 6 and was today sentenced to a two-year driving ban and a 12 month community order, consisting of 120 hours of unpaid work.

Ivanov admitted to making "a really big mistake" and was told he must pay a £100 fine, £85 prosecutions costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
