An investigation has been launched at Whipps Cross University Hospital following the sudden death of a teenager.
Karlysle Bryan, 14, is understood to have been seen at the Leytonstone hospital in the days before he collapsed in the street in Debden Broadway, Loughton, on October 21.
No further details have been released and a cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust confirmed two ambulances were called to the scene at 5.25am following a 111 non-emergency call.
A Barts Health NHS Trust spokesperson said: “We would like pass on our condolences to the family of Karlysle Bryan at this extremely difficult time.
“We have opened an investigation into the care received and the circumstances surrounding this incident, and will share this with the family in due course.”
Following his death, hundreds of people have written on a wall in The Arcade in Debden Broadway, to pay tribute to the schoolboy, who was described by friends as “the brightest in the sky”.
