A date has been set for the launch of a public consultation into plans which could see the density of housing in Wanstead and Woodford quadrupled.

Labour cabinet member planning and regeneration, Helen Coombe, announced that the consultation will start next Friday.

The announcement came at the public forum last night in Redbridge Central Library, in Clements Road, Ilford.

People will be able to have their say on proposals which would see large scale developments in traditionally suburban “major corridors” in Woodford Green, South Woodford and Wanstead.

Other options being considered include building on existing, unspecified “parcels” of green belt land, and developing Oakfield playing fields in Fencepiece Road, Ilford.
