Essex Police have issued a statement warning party-goers that Halloween is ‘not an excuse for anti-social behaviour’.
Last year in Loughton there were 176 reports of anti-social behaviour in Epping Forest during October 2013.
Earlier this week Essex Police released a poster in collaboration with Epping Forest District Council for residents who wish to keep trick or treaters at bay.
Officers are asking youngsters who plan to go door-knocking on Friday to be mindful of the elderly and vulnerable and to help reduce the sort of trick or treat vandalism, such as egg and flour throwing, that can arise at this time of year.
Inspector Paul Seabright said: "We understand that children and young people find this time of year exciting and fun.
“However many members of your community find Halloween and Bonfire Night very stressful."
