Police are appealing for witnesses after two lorries clashed at high-speed on the M11.

The lorries were travelling at around 50mph when the one of the drivers was seen trying to ram the other off the road on Monday at 11.45am.

A man leant out of the window of one of the vehicles in an attempt to attack the other driver with a crow bar between Harlow and Epping.

The vehicles invloved were a white and blue Volvo, with a blue trailer, and a white Mercedes, with a red trailer.

The Volvo forced the Mercedes onto to the hard shoulder and on to the grass at the side of the motorway.

The altercation continued along the M25 and the A127 towards Basildon, when the red Mercedes was forced in to the central reservation by the Volvo.

The driver of the Volvo then produced a crowbar, leaned out of his window and attacked the other lorry.

The victim immediately pulled over on the A127 and phoned police after considerable damage was caused.

Officers believe a number of other drivers were witness to the incident and are appealing for them to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said: "This was an extremely reckless and dangerous incident which took place at high speed on a number of busy roads being used by plenty of other motorists.

"We are very lucky that the outcome was not much worse."
