A reggae fan who was spared jail after defying a ban on playing loud music has been evicted from her home.
Chrissie Holyoak, 53, was ordered to leave her council house in Boxted Close, Buckhurst Hill, this month after breaching a noise abatement notice issued by Edmonton County Court.
The former bus driver was convicted in June at Chelmsford Crown Court of six offences of breaching an earlier anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) by playing loud reggae music between July 1 and August 27 last year.
An environmental inspector who visited the area on July 20 said the music, which also included Smooth FM, was "audible over the noise from the nearby M11".
The property was repossessed with a County Court Order on October 20.
Epping Forest District Council officer Tom Carne said: “We obviously take breaches of ASBOs and noise nuisances very seriously.
“Loud music played for hours on end can be very distressing to neighbours.
“We don’t like to take people to court and we always try more gentle persuasion first but if they continue to ignore council requests and flout sanctions placed on them, as in this case, we will take every action available to us.”
