A pregnant woman accused of helping her boyfriend steal from a shop’s staff room has had her case thrown out of court this morning.

Led into the dock at Stratford Magistrates court by two prison officers, Carmen Sinclair, 36, faced one charge of burglary.

On May 30 last year, Ms Sinclair who is currently serving time in HMP Holloway for another offence, visited Cash Converters in St James Street, Walthamstow with her boyfriend.

Shop CCTV showed the pair looking at televisions before a worker enters the staff room through a locked door.

Ms Sinclair's boyfriend, named only in court as Mr John, followed him in, leaving his girlfriend outside.

He stole an iPod and a phone worth £500.

The prosecutor argued that it was clear by Ms Sinclair’s body language she was acting as a lookout.

Heavily pregnant Ms Sinclair, of Bridge Gardens in Hackney, shouted from the dock: "I was looking where he was going".

After watching the CCTV three times District Judge Miller threw the case out.

He said: “There is no conversation or discussion before he follows the member of staff, it was opportunistic.

“Burglar Bill sees the door open and goes straight for it.

“It is clear to me from this CCTV there was nobody acting as a lookout. There is no case here."

The man known as Mr John is currently serving a sentence in jail for the crime.

Ms Sinclair said ‘I love you’ to her children in the public gallery as she left the court.
