The owner of a popular coffee kiosk is pouring his energy into a campaign to stay in Waltham Forest after he was given notice to leave.

Italian Alessandro Pinna said he takes "immense pride" in his coffee, opening up early every morning to take care of the commuters using Walthamstow Central station.

The 36-year-old owner of Madre Tierra now fears he may have to leave the borough if he cannot find a way to stay near the station and his loyal customers.

Last month Network Rail, the company which owns the land the kiosk is on, told Mr Pinna he can no longer use the space as the station is set to expand and he must leave by April 2015.

Without the cash to open a shop, he is now hoping the council will help him to find a solution.

“Tomorrow, I am starting a petition to ask the council to help me relocate along the station.

“I have lived in a few places in London, but it is only here that I have found such a sense of community.

"I take care of my customers and they take care of me. I love it here.

“It is like a family.”
