A hearing date has been set for an application by a restaurant backed by Premier League stars to stay open until 1am, following a previous refusal.

If the new application is accepted, La Sala, in Chigwell Road, Woodford Green, will be able to serve drinks until 12.30am and remain open until 1am on Friday and Saturdays.

The restaurant, which counts Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling among its investors and brands itself as a "celebrity haunt", applied to stay open until 1.30am at weekends and 12.30am every other day in August.

It was refused “nightclub hours” after residents opposed plans, but was granted permission to stay open until 11.30pm on weeknights, midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 10.30pm on Sundays.

The restaurant then lodged a new licence application last month when it opened, which owners hope will extend hours to 1am on Friday and Saturdays.

The application also details plans to stay open until 12am on weeknights, 1am on Friday and Saturday and 11.30pm on Sundays.

The hearing will take place on December 1 at Redbridge town hall, in Ilford.
