Up to 20,000 people enjoyed a firework display at Waltham Forest town hall.
The free pyrotechnic display in Chestnut Fields in Forest Road was themed as 'Music to the Movies'.
The synchronised display kicked off at just after 8pm with a Michael Caine line from the 1969 film, The Italian Job: 'You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off'.
This was followed by the intro music to 20th Century Fox films, Abba songs, the Mission Impossible theme, the Bee Gees' 'Night Fever' before ending with the original Star Wars soundtrack.
Reaction to the fireworks was shared on Twitter with residents posting comments and photos.
# E17 fireworks were great! Hearing the theme from the Pink Panther telly show was a major highlight.

The finale was a spectacular golden display of shimmering fireworks lighting up the sky.
There was a huge round of applause and cheers from the crowd.
Roads surrounding the area were gridlocked from 7pm after 9pm, with many families parking a mile away and walking.
