Hundreds of people stood in silence to remember Epping Forest's fallen heroes at the weekend.

Residents gathered at church services, wreath-laying ceremonies and plaque unveiling parades across the district on Sunday to pay tribute to war dead and to pay respect to serving soldiers.

Over 300 people attended the unveiling of a plaque with the names of 10 local 'forgotten' soldiers at St John's.

Cubs, Scouts and Girl Guides marched to the ceremony at the war memorial in Buckhurst Hill where they performed the last post.

In Epping, residents watched as the annual Remembrance Day parade set off from the High Street Civic Offices and proceeded to the war memorial led by the Epping Forest Pipe Band.

Loughton locals gathered with poppies at the British Legion in Church Hill before marching to the Kings Green memorial in the High Road where they were treated to a traditional jazz performance after laying wreaths for fallen soldiers.

Hundreds also gathered in Waltham Abbey to join army cadets and veterans march to a service of remembrance at Waltham Abbey Church.

Services were also held in Chipping Ongar, North Weald and Chigwell churches.
