A struggling mother who won £5.8million on the national lottery features in a new song celebrating the anniversary of its launch.

Tracy Tyler, a former childminder from Epping, scooped the prize last year after spending the last £4 in her purse on a Lottery ticket.

The mother-of-two said she was finding it hard to make ends meet at the time.

She joined a choir of winners last week to record a song to mark 20 years since the launch of The National Lottery.

She said: “Winning the money was a complete shock.

“I was circling the numbers and I had to keep checking.

“Since the win last year I have bought a new house, a car that doesn’t need repairs all of the time and I have been on a couple of holidays.

“The recording of the song has been fantastic, I am really grateful for how the money changed my life.

“I have never sung outside of the shower so to go to record my voice professionally alongside other winners was a real experience.”

The song was recorded at the Southend YMCA Switch 2 Music studios, which received £59,064 funding from The National Lottery in July.

In 20 years, 54 millionaires have been created and 388 prizes of £50,000 have been paid out to people in Epping.
