A man has appeared in court accused of storing high value stolen bikes at his home.

Murat Ozdenya, of Normanshire Drive in Chingford, faces five charges of receiving stolen goods and one count of possessing criminal property - a large quantity of cash.

The 41-year-old appeared at Thames Magistrates Court this morning where he offered a no indication of plea to all offences.

On August 7, police visited his home in Chingford where they found five bikes with an estimated street value of £19,000 stored in his home.

The bikes reported as stolen by owners' Claire Richardson, Chrissie Wellington, Alex Hearn, Damir Huskic and Andrew Snowball, included a Cervelo S5, a Cannondale Slice, a Cube Agree, a Canyon Ultimate CF, and a customised Crave bike.

Prosecutor Mrs Adesiyan described the offences as "sophisticated and highly organised".

Ozdenya was released on unconditional bail to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 27.
