Paranormal investigators who use a logical, scientific approach to their research are appealing for evidence of the supernatural.

Alan Smith, 33, of Heath Drive, Theydon Bois, has recently joined Para Huntings UK, a group which employs electromagnetic field meters, digital thermometers and listening equipment to investigate sites of interest.

He said: “Stories, legends - anything they have experienced themselves - we will treat every case as unique and at no time will anybody be told their experience did not happen to them.

“That is not part of our philosophy. That for us is a huge business.

“If we cannot find anything logical, all that remains is the theoretical. It is always theoretical and up for debate.”

Mr Smith said that seemingly supernatural phenomena can be explained by factors such as electromagnetic fields, faulty electronic devices and inaudible sound frequencies, but traditional scientific explanations have failed for “one per cent” of occurrences.

The team is planning to investigate Loughton Camp in Epping Forest, the site of an Iron Age Fort and, some believe, where a battle took place between Boudica’s warriors and the Romans.
